History Tour by Bike with National Park Service

Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park and Outdoor Chattanooga partner to provide a series of free, historical tours through Chickamauga Battlefield by bicycle!! View the physical spaces by bicycle and at various stops hear the NPS ranger give a vivid historical and thought provoking accounts of that location.

Reserve a bicycle to use or bring your own to join the group ride. Ride length is approximately 3 to 4 miles on flat to moderately hilly terrain with frequent stops at various sites of significance. This ride is appropriate for adults and children ages 10 years and older, when accompanied by an adult. Children must be able to ride confidently, without training wheels, and keep up with a leisurely group pace. All participants are required to wear helmets.

The public is invited to bring their own bicycles and helmets (recumbent or handcycles are appropriate and acceptable) to join in the leisurely-paced historical rides, which takes approximately 2.5 hours. Check in with the trip leader for the introductory speech and to sign the group waivers. It is your responsibility to be sure your bicycle is in proper working order for the ride.

Loaner bicycles will be available with PRE-RESERVATION for riders 5 feet tall and over at no charge, thanks to sponsorship from the National Park Partners and the Friends of Outdoor Chattanooga.
